Harry Lunn established his first gallery in Washington D.C. in 1968, exhibiting prints by established and emerging American, European, and Japanese artists. After seeing a print of "Moonrise" by Ansel Adams in 1970, Lunn turned to photography. His success with Adams encouraged him to exhibit other photographers such as Diane Arbus, Robert Frank, or Walker Evans. By 1976, Lunn’s catalogues were mainly dedicated to photography. He published portfolios by leading artist, including William Eggleston, Robert Mapplethorpe, or Lisette Model.
In a time when the idea of selling photographs to the general public was met with skepticism, Harry Lunn boldly entered the scene and forever transformed the photography market. His profound influence earned him the well-deserved title of "The Godfather of Photography."
Lunn's pioneering spirit extended beyond the gallery walls. He played a pivotal role in the formation of key industry events like AIPAD and Paris Photo, and he made history as the first to introduce a photo booth at Art Basel, the Armory Show, and FIAC. Harry's legacy continues to thrive today through the tireless efforts of his dedicated children.

Harry Lunn a établi sa première galerie à Washington D.C. en 1968, exposant des estampes d'artistes américains, européens et japonais établis et émergents. Après avoir vu une épreuve de "Moonrise" d'Ansel Adams en 1970, Lunn s'est tourné vers la photographie.
